How to meditate on the beach
Aloha!
I just enjoyed a beautiful week in Maui absorbing the healing Maui mana and allowing her 'aina to heal my body. 'Aina in Hawaiian means "land" and the healing power of Mama Earth is so powerful.
The energy in Maui is palpable and so incredibly healing. From every sunrise to every sunset, I truly could not absorb enough of it. My body popped out of bed at 5:55am to rush down to enjoy the sunrise and bask in every sunset.
My Maui morning time is sacred.
It is peaceful, the water is calm and there are very few people on the beach.
It is just me and Mama Earth. It's where we talk out my life and life falls into place during meditation.
I could not love this time more. It is the best place for meditation so I thought I'd share my meditation practice with you here.
Do you meditate outside?
A friend newer to meditation and I were talking about beach meditation once and she said, "I'm working up to meditating on the beach." I said, "Choose to meditate on the beach today. No need to work up to it." When you have the proper techniques, it will feel so much easier to dive right into this practice.
Here are a few of my beach meditating tips:
Do not meditate on a towel. Get sandy. The healing, grounding properties of the sand and the earth will uplevel your meditation and heal your body in ways you would not believe.
Build your own nature bolster. I have built my own sand bolsters for years. The bolster helps you to maintain a straight spine during meditation and allows the energy to flow through your spine. The bolster helps that process happen effortlessly.
Use the diamond fist mudra. This helps your mind to remain as strong as a diamond and maintain its focus while keeping your body in an upright posture. As you establish your physical structure in a supported position, your mind can quiet and does not have to effort to hold your body in place. Your body naturally maintains its alignment.
Keep your chin down, ears aligned with the shoulders, engage a straight spine and enjoy a little bit of a gentle smile because as people walk by, they will be inspired by your meditation practice. They'll think, "Wow! I never knew meditation could be so fun! I want some of that!"
Once you've been meditating for awhile, people will say "I want some of that" about you when you're walking around in your present life too.
Meditation brings about a noticeable energetic and emotional shift in you, a calmness and an assuredness that everything is good and that life will always bless you. People around you will notice, but more importantly you will notice, there is a newfound peace within that is magnetic.
Everyone wants some of that!
If you haven't started a meditation practice, I hope this Love Letter encourages you to begin one. Meditation will bring you "some of that" and more...
