Are you afraid of heights or public speaking?
Are you afraid of heights?
Do you get nervous in elevators?
Do you scream at the sight of spiders or bugs?
You are not alone.
But it is not about the elevator, the plane or the bugs.
It is how your body consumes this external information and for these triggers, it is consumed through your eyes.
The visual anxiety trigger is the most prevalent in our society.
I want you to pause and think about what triggers your anxiety or moments of nervousness?
Where on your body is that external factor experienced first for you?
You panic when you see it
Breathe this in for a moment.
If you close your eyes and go within in that same moment, does an elevator exist here within your mind? Are you in an airplane?
What do people say when they are afraid of heights?
"I can't look down."
It is the visual cue of seeing that you are up that high that triggers your anxiety.
In this case, it is through your sense of sight that you are experiencing your anxiety within your body.
It is this visual indicator and response to these external factors that relays to your system that there is something to be anxious about.
Several years ago, I spent a painstakingly frustrating day uploading an online course up onto a platform. It was a day full of deep breathing, several moments of face-in-my-hands questioning my intelligence and grit and even moments of frustrated screaming.
It was a tough day full of self-questioning, self-doubt and ultimately self-mastery.
By 6:30pm, my class was uploaded and live.
I could not have been more proud.
But little did I know what was about to happen.
I had endured an intense day.
My energy was overwrought and ungrounded.
The moment I finished, I ran to my car and dashed to our friend's musical. I rushed down the aisle and slid right into my seat just as the lights went down.
Whew, I made it- so this is what work life balance feels like.
When the stage lights flashed on and the strobe lights started, it was too much for my sensitive exhausted system and vision.
This visual trigger triggered my system.
In that moment, the adrenaline from the day and the energy emanating from everyone around me were the perfect mixture for my system to ignite a full panic attack.
But I used my energy tools and remained calm and no one knew I was experiencing anything other than a poignant moment taking in the musical.
Once I recalibrated my energy, my panic attack ended.
Anxiety is an energetic imbalance that simply needs to be reset and strengthened.
Anxiety is energetic.
When we know how to strengthen our energy system, we no longer experience these moments of anxiety.
Begin to look inward to heal your external triggers.
Your triggers are not external.
While the plane, the audience or the skyscraper exist externally, you experience them internally.
As you strengthen your energetic system, you will no longer feel anxiety.
It begins with foundation, begin with the healing meditations I shared the past two weeks- Healing your smell trigger and Healing your taste trigger and work up to this week, Healing your fear of heights- a powerful meditation to help you heal your visual anxiety trigger.
I am here to help you heal your anxiety and have watched my system work over and over and over again.
Trust that you can heal and empower yourself beyond your anxiety.
If you think your team or company would benefit from learning how to manage and heal their anxiety, I would love to come and teach you the same powerful techniques I use every day. Let’s get to work and put our anxiety behind us.
See you in meditation!
Much love,
Erin
