Healing your anxiety triggers: Sense of Smell

Every summer, my family would pack in our chevy station wagon with a bag of Wonder bread and a cooler of bologna, cheese and mustard and make our annual pilgrimage from California to North Carolina to visit my grandparents.

The summer before I started kindergarten, we drove through emergency broadcasts of tornadoes and watched bolts of lightening illuminate the skies. We spent hours playing mad libs and the license plate game all on the way to grandmother's house. Looking back, I realize now all of these natural disasters were probably warning signs for me for what was to come.

One night during our stay, I was put in bed before the sun had set which, being the third child with much older siblings, never happened. About 30 minutes later, I walked into the TV room where my family was sitting and discovered they were all eating ice cream sandwiches. My grandmother said, “We didn’t have enough for you, so we sent you to bed.” I turned around and ran to my room, sobbing. My mom came in to comfort me and told me she would share hers with me and brought me out to the TV room.

From that point on, I had anxiety when it came to trusting groups of people. I did have groups in elementary, junior high, high school, college, and adult life that (prior to my conscious healing), in pictures, all looked amazing. But, as soon as I had to trust the members of the group, I would find myself petrified, believing I would be excluded, and no one would invite me to their “ice cream party.”

This was a tribal rejection my soul has worked extremely hard to heal. After great lengths of healing and pattern recognition, I now help myself stay grounded when presented with a group trust issue. I remind myself that I am Divinely accepted and as I feel Divinely accepted, my external world accepts me too.

We are the magnet for our life.
As we heal, so does our life.

All of us have some sort of childhood trauma that we would be well served to heal and often in doing so, that healing journey leads us to the purpose of our life.

Who can understand someone better or empathize with someone deeper than a person who has experienced the very emotion the other person is experiencing?

This is one of many reasons why my life purpose is on helping people understand the root cause of their anxiety.

My anxiety has become my best case study. I have learned to move beyond it by understanding its root cause and training my energy body how to manage and heal it and ultimately irradicate it.

When we experience tribal rejection or something at an early age, we can often experience anxiety triggered by the sense of smell. The cologne of an abusive father, the aroma of food we were eating when we learned of bad news, the smell of the environment when our life was changed forever. These smells become connected to the negative emotional experience and, years later this smell can ignite anxiety if this trigger is not healed.
