Do you believe in Santa?
One December afternoon several years ago, my 11 year-old daughter sat down at the computer to do her homework.
She plugged in her flash drive and searched for her homework to finish.
What she found was something quite different.
I hear a crackling voice call from the office, "Mama, can you come here, please?"
So I walked in and she showed me that her search had pulled up every single tooth fairy letter we'd ever written and then she whispered,
"And then I found this, Mama."
And showed me the Santa letter we had written the year before.
With confusion and tears in her eyes, I hugged her so hard.
She was almost 12. It was beyond time for Santa truth to be revealed according to today's standards, but it was still a chapter closing.
And then I knelt down next to her and I told her that Santa gave us an opportunity to believe in something greater than ourselves.
This belief helps us to reach out and love in bigger and greater ways.
I do believe in Santa because Santa is the spirit of helping and loving beyond our comfort zone.
And while helping and loving should be standard protocol, sometimes people need a little help and "Santa" gets us started.
Once initiated, we can bring that feeling and effort into more of our entire year.
We hugged and then she stayed up late with us helping to get Christmas ready for her sister that year and was full of excitement and joy to be creating fun for someone else.
The word believe has been an integral and necessary part of this past year.
Many of us...
Stood up for what we believed in.
Have worked through grief when we couldn't believe something happened.
For most, these past two years have tested our faith to believe that life is good and that we are always being blessed.
All we can do is believe.
Believing brings our thoughts into reality.
Trusting and knowing that all is well welcomes in more of life that is, in fact, "all and well."
So maybe Santa does more for us adults than it even does for the kids when we truly believe in Santa, or each other or even yourself.
What or who can you believe in this year?
Join me for this week's magical meditation, How to manifest through believing, as we bring in every bit of the life you desire through what you believe.
It could be that this season of believing is the very thing our hearts need to experience to know that all of our grown-up Christmas wishes are coming true too!
Much love,
Erin
