How to Spring Clean your Body

Last week, we covered the amazing process of Spring Cleaning your home and you learned how it is not just objects you are touching, but it is their energy that you are moving. You can actually begin to experience the stories of your objects through psychometry.

But our Spring Cleaning doesn't end there!

This week, we Spring Clean the home of your soul, your body! 

TCM, Traditional Chinese Medicine, breaks down the year into 5 healing seasons for the body, and this current season of Springtime spans from the Spring Equinox on March 20th to the Summer Solstice on June 21st, according to WTHN, the 5 seasons of Traditional Chinese Medicine.  

So right now is the powerhouse time to clean and detox your liver!

Why is this so important? 

Well, the major energetic role your liver plays in your body is to circulate your energy throughout your entire body. So if your liver's energy is stagnated, you may find that your body and life feel stagnant too. It's like a water well pump that has gone dry. The pump is there but there is no water flowing through it until you add some water. The same is true for the energy of the liver. Once we get the energy moving in the liver, the energy in the entire body begins to flow once again too. 

How do we know we need to do a little spring cleaning? 

Have you been waking up between 1am-3am or 11pm-1am every night? 
Our body is designed to sleep through the night so if you are consistently waking up at these hours every night, your liver or its organ partner, the gall bladder, are asking to be balanced and are giving you a sign. If there is an imbalance in one of these two organs, it will show up during this season either through simply waking up at that hour (Liver- 1am-3am or gallbladder 11pm-1am) or actually experiencing a painful episode. 

Our body tells us everything we need to know. It offers us signs if we are listening.

Have you felt angry or resentful?  Another indicator of liver imbalance is feeling angry and resentful.  Our liver gets firey hot and it shows up as a temperament that is firey and hot. 

Have you been feeling stuck in life?
Since the liver is responsible for moving the flow of energy throughout our body as the liver energy becomes stagnant, we find that we feel stuck in life too. 

 So how do we heal this area of our body? 

  • Detox your thoughts and words & release anger and resentment

    • Begin with letting go of anger and resentment.- you can write everything down that you are mad about and burn it safely outside in a contained way or

    • Simply catch yourself being resentful and choose a better feeling thought. 

 

  • .Drink your lemon water- Sour foods go to the liver first- this is why many detoxes recommend you drink lemon water first thing in the morning to cleanse and detoxify the liver. The Vitamin C in lemon water helps the liver to produce glutathione, an antioxidant that helps the liver eliminate toxins. 

 

  • Eat your greens- kale, cabbage and dandelion greens help balance and cleanse this energy. 

 

  • Use a castor oil detox- Place some organic castor oil over your liver and place a piece of parchment paper on top. Use a hot water bottle or heated rice pack and place on top. (Do not use an electric heating pad) This will help the castor oil to absorb and the oil will help to release the toxins from the liver.  

 

  • Liver & gallbladder detox- Mix 1 teaspoon lemon juice, 1 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil, pinch cayenne pepper and drink in the morning for 5 days. Barbara O-Neil is an amazing healer who offers many incredible healing suggestions.  Follow her HERE
