Give the gift of authentic love this Valentine' s Day
Have you ever wondered how two people can be so different, yet still be in love? Or how to remain authentically you within a relationship?
My hubby is joining me on today's Love.Heal.Thrive. podcast and we are doing a deep couple dive and discussing these very things!
There was a really funny story my husband told on the episode about authenticity. It took place years ago and it was a beautiful sunny day. We had decided to go on a hike by our home, one of our favorite past times.
Once we reached the picturesque top of this hill with views spanning every direction, including a gorgeous view of the Golden Gate Bridge, I told him I needed to "stretch" as I walked away from him and the clearing and went and leaned up against a tree.
We both knew that I was clearly not stretching on this tree but rather grounding my energy while leaning on it. There is an incredible documentary on the effects of grounding on your body at Earthing.com.
So he called me out on it with a quick, "You are not stretching. Are you trying to do some magic trick with the tree or something?"
You see, at that time, I didn't feel as confident to hold space for my spiritual life in our home and family. I didn't meditate out in the open and I certainly didn't talk about grounding my energy, Law of Attraction, or energy healing around everyone.
Can you imagine? This story took place a really long time ago.
At that time though, I wasn't comfortable sharing my authentic self. I only meditated when people weren't around and never talked about energy healing to anyone in my family even though it was all I thought about, read about or learned about in classes.
And that isolation was no one's doing except my own.
I needed to find my own confidence.
Through a series of events that followed this hike, I found my courage and began meditating every morning and every night in bed without feeling the need to hide my practice.
I started sharing concepts, and ideas and teaching my family in a whole new way. Now, we have family discussions about the law of attraction, how energy flows through our lives and everyone has their own grounding mat on their bed.
I could not be happier or more thrilled that everyone feels safe to be their own authentic self within our home. But it took a shift in me to make that happen. I had to feel secure within myself to share these teachings but now that I have, our entire family has upleveled.
Are you an empath? Does your family know? Do your friends know? Empaths get more exhausted because of all the energy sensitivity they experience throughout the day. Have the courage to tell your loved ones and make a plan- learn tools that help you manage your energy every day and set expectations that you can only handle so much. For instance, my husband knows I cannot watch any violence or physical harm on tv. It literally hurts my body so we either 1) don't watch those shows together or 2) if something surprises us in a show, I close my eyes and ears and he lets me know when it is over by tapping my knee. Get your loved ones on your team and begin to teach them about energy and you will come to feel supported and understood like never before.
Today's podcast is me and my hubby diving into relationships and how to be more authentic and real in partnership! Together we discuss how our love languages play a huge role in how we set expectations for each other and how we used to find ourselves disappointed more often before we were unaware of our love languages. We talk about how knowing ourselves helps us get along with each other better and finally we go sight-unseen and read through the Enneagram Institute's detailing of the highs and lows of an Enneagram 2 & 9 being together in a relationship.
