On This International Day Of Peace, You Are Not Powerless.
On this International Day of Peace, let peace begin with me.
That can feel so much easier said than done, right?
We long for World Peace but as long as we continue to believe we are powerless, and it's someone else's responsibility, the world will not change.
Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me.
Me is the most powerful place for peacemaking.
Let there be peace in making our morning coffee. Let there be peace in our drive to work. Let there be peace instead of gossip. Let there be peace instead of internal self-criticism and so much "un-peace in our head."
Let there be peace.
As we shift our own mind, we shift the world.
This image from James Cameron's movie Avatar is such a perfect illustration of how this works.
Our energy affects everyone.
We are all connected.
You are not powerless on this International Day of Peace.
How can you make your day and your world more peaceful?
I know it's hard. We all have a lot of demons in our heads...until we train them to do what we want them to do.
So often, I am working with clients who are stuck in major decisions. They feel paralyzed. They feel afraid. They feel frustrated because they just want the decision behind them and to move on with their life. They feel everything but peaceful.
The emotional stress often brings on physical manifestations of insomnia, depression and headaches.
With every client, my advice is always the same.
Your one and only job is to get quiet and connect to your Divine, whatever that is for you.
This can be done through meditation, sitting quietly just listening to your breath or watching a candle flicker for 10 minutes. But sometimes these feel like additional add-ons to our already stressful, busy day. So I know in even typing them, or reading them for that matter, it feels like one more "thing" to do. I get it.
So, I have something better for you that I'm sure I have written here several times over the years.
Want to make this world a more peaceful place? Make this one promise to yourself.
Don't put your head on the pillow at night until you've quieted and surrendered your day for 10 seconds.
Get ready for bed, climb in bed and start the habit of releasing your day and connecting to your Divine before you go to sleep. It doesn't have to be a 30-minute meditation, although it may turn into that.
Commit to 10 seconds.
Commit to surrendering the chaos in your mind.
Commit to connecting to that Divine Banyan Tree and releasing what did not serve you today.
Release it, let it go, let the tree take it.
Then, allow the tree to nourish you just like it did on your many tree climbing adventures as a child.
You will find that you feel calmer, more grounded, safer and will sleep better.
And peace will flow... from the tree, through you and onto everyone else.
Let there be peace on Earth and let it begin with me... 10 seconds at a time.
Much love,
Erin
